Charakterization of air pollution sources in indoor environment

Project goals

The aim of the project is to characterize sources of air pollution in various types of indoor microenvironments. Research will be oriented namely on public spaces and on environments where sensitive individuals such as children and seniors spend the majority of their time. Attention will be paid namely on indoor combustion processes and on particulate matter - a pollutant known to cause serious health related problems including cancer, allergy and even increase mortality. Results will be used to supportnational indoor air quality guidelines and standards.

  • Project results evaluation

    New results concerning the characteristics of air pollution sources in the internal environment of buildings were obtained. A methodology for evaluating air quality in buildings was proposed as well. Results were published in journals and at conferences.The results can be immediately applied in practice.
