Collaboration of the Czech Republic with CERN

Project goals

The goal of the project is the participation of the Czech scientific institutions in the CERN research program. The basic object of this program is to discover and explore the universal and fundamental laws of the microcosm. At present, the new findingsin this area have also a strong impact on our understanding of the origin a development of the whole universe. The focus of the activity is in experimental research that exploits the modern progressive scientific equipments. In this way it also stimulates development of new technologies. A direct participation of the young scientists and students in the CERN research program is an important aspect of the project. The Czech scientists, engineers and technicians currently contribute to the accomplishmentof large multinational experiments ALICE, TOTEM, COMPASS, DIRAC, ISOLDE, nTOF, NA62,OSQAR, MoEDAL at CERN. At the same time the Czech universities and academic institutes are also successfully involved in several CERN R&D projects.
