Picosecond resolution photon detectors for space applications
Project goals
The aim of the project is to develop a solid state photon counting detector capable of operation in long-term space missions. The detector will be developed and optimized on the basis of knowledge acquired in connection with the existing solid state detection chip technology K14 at the Czech Technical University in Prague. The main research and development will be directed toward the detection within the extended dynamical range and reduction of the detection range walk. The foreseen applications in space projects are, but are not limited to, laser altimetry, one way laser ranging, satellite laser ranging, Lidar and range-resolved imaging.
