Matrix for carbon reinforced epoxy laminates with reduced flammability

Project goals

The project aims to develop new flame retardants for carbon fiber reinforced epoxy laminates. These retardants should be more environmentally friendly than most so far used flame retardants. Newly developed compounds will be based on cyclic or polymeric phosphazenes, or other usable derivatives of phosphorus oxytrichloride. At the same time the project should contribute to knowledge of the relationship between structure and properties.

    Cílem projektu je vývoj nových zpomalovačů hoření pro epoxidové lamináty vyztužené uhlíkovými vlákny. Tyto retardéry by měly být šetrnější k životnímu prostředí než většina dosud používaných zpomalovačů hoření. Nově vyvinuté sloučeniny budou založeny na cyklických nebo polymerních fosfazenech nebo jiných použitelných derivátech oxytrichloridu fosforečného. Zároveň by měl projekt přispět k poznání vztahu mezi strukturou a vlastnostmi.

    The project succeeded according to the assignment. The solution of this project contributed to the goal of the program with new and original results suitable for implementation. The goal of the project was achieved - a new matrix for carbon-reinforced epoxy laminates with reduced flammability. The results were achieved according to the Agreement, but the recipient does not plan to implement them for the time being. Even considering the problems at the beginning of the project solution caused by Covid, the international cooperation was without major problems.
