The Centre of Molecular Methods for Monitoring the Diffuse Pollution of the Environment.
Project goals
The purpose of the proposed project is a multidisciplinary research on new systems for the monitoring of diffuse environmental pollution. Diffuse pollution means a long term contamination of the environment by very low concentration of pollutants, residue of a variety of anthropogenic activities, together with a demonstrably negative influence on health and reproduction of mammals. The central focus is mainly on substances with endocrine activity such as hormonal contraceptives, certain medications including antibiotics, and substances used in detergents and paints. At present in the Czech Republic, there is no monitoring system of these dicey substances in the environment. The main aim of this project is, therefore, to design and verify an integral system for the assessment of the diffuse pollution in the environment of surface and ground water, and sediments using molecular diagnostic methods. The monitoring system will be based on the determined impact of chosen pollutants on mammalian organisms i

Cílem projektu je proto navrhnout a ověřit ucelený systém prohodnocení DZ povrchových i podzemních vod a sedimentů s využitím molekulárních diagnostických metod. Hodnotící systém bude navržen na základě zjištěného vlivu vybraných polutantů na savčí organismus in vivo i buňky in vitro. Diagnostika bude založena napřipraveném panelu specifických monoklonálních protilátek proti vybraným polutantům spolu s komplexním molekulárně-genetickým popisem struktury a změn bakteriálních konsorcií a jejich genové výbavy. Výsledky nově vypracovaných molekulárních diagnostickýc

Project results evaluation
An integral system for monitoring diffuse environmental pollution was designed, including innovative instrumental analysis, molecular biological methods of pyrosequencing, immunological methods using ELISA and ecotoxicity tests. The development of thesemethods, detection of pollutants and their long-term monitoring represent the first step to their localization and elimination.
