Proteiny vyráběné v heterologních expresních systémech jsou nejrychleji rostoucím segmentem farmaceutického průmyslu. Blížící se ukončení platnosti některých patentových ochran zvyšuje tlak na generické firmy k zavedení výrob biogenerik-biosimilars. Rozsah a detailní podmínky využití jednotlivých expresních systémů, kvasničných i pokročilejších založených na savčích buněčných liniích, bude systematicky testován v tomto projektu. Výstupem bude zavedení nových expresních systémů, systémů zpracování a analytických přístupů (aplikovaný výzkum) a průzkum technik nutných pro vývoj nejméně dvou konkrétních produktů (průmyslový výzkum).

The project Biosimilars resulted in three technologies which may be utilised for production of therapeutic peptides and proteins. The technology using the fusion with fluorescent protein has potential to significantly decrease production costs.
