    Metrology for advanced industrial magnetics

  • Annotation in Czech

This project will provide the metrological infrastructure and expertise required to overcome the barriers that prevent more widespread adoption of advanced magnetic sensors in a variety of products and industrial applications. European research and development in the field of magnetic sensors and devices is traditionally strong and key inventions in the field like the GMR have been developed in European research laboratories. Important producers and developers of magnetic sensors are based in European countries like Germany, Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, and others. Also several European NMIs posses a well developed metrology infrastructure for the characterization of magnetic devices and materials which will serve as the basis for this PRT. Despite of the strong European role in the field the pressure from international competitors on the European magnetic sensor industry is and will remain high. Here, making use of intellectual property protection a European based project allows to exclusively grant access to the resulting metrology tools and processes to European based manufacturers. Also a European based metrology infrastructure for traceable magnetic sensor calibration will further enable European magnetic sensormanufacturers to be competitive in the global market.
