Novel mathematical and statistical approaches to uncertainty evaluation

These goals will be addressed as follows: Work package 1 develops methods for the evaluation of uncertainty in the context of inverse problems and regression problems that arise throughout metrology; Work package 2 develops methods for uncertainty evaluation in metrological applications with computationally expensive model functions; Work package 3 develops methods for conformity assessment and reliable decision-making that incorporate knowledge of the measurement uncertainties; Work package 4 ensures wide dissemination of the methods for uncertainty evaluation and conformity assessment developed within the three technical work packages to key stakeholders, including industry, universities, professional societies, regulatory bodies, international organisations and NMIs.

Project results evaluation
The CMI was active in only one of three technical workpackages – the problems of the rigorous determination of the uncertainties while using the linear regression methods. We tightly cooperated with a team of Italian INRIM. THe main output of our cooperation is a freeware programme for this topic.
