  • Annotation in Czech

The main project objectives are: - To analyse the roles/missions of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) as critical actors in the regional economic and social development of underdeveloped/less developed regions in the Czech Republic (CZ) and Norway. - To connect the real long-term needs/demands of these regions in both countries with the education, research and other capacities (third missions) of the HEIs operating directly in those regions by means of developing national frames of reference for each country (in the form of a matrix of regional needs and HEIs possible responses). - To compare the matrices of mutual relations cross-nationally in order to find commonalities and differences and to develop an international frame of reference. - To develop the Tool Kit (methodological guide on how to meet the various needs of peripheral regions with the assistance/support of HEIs) which will be piloted on selected cases in both countries and made available for long-term exploitation (possibly more broadly than only in the CR and Norway).

  • Project results evaluation

It was the PERIF project with ambitious but very difficult objectives to be achieved. The team managed to fulfil parts of them (publications) but the overall societal impact (to improve the quality of life of regions as well as the quality of Higher Education Institutions) is only moderate. The project also promised to disseminate results for general public, the Czech team published 8 articles in newspapers. The research team produced results which are mainly of descriptive character. The overall project rating is good.
