    Nanophotonics with metal – group-IV-semiconductor nanocomposites: From single nanoobjects to functional ensembles

    The proposed project aims to fabricate, investigate and model semiconductor-metal composite nanostructures with a unique approach bridging the scales from single nano-objects to ensembles and macroscopic devices. We will study changes of absorption and emission rates and plasmon-exciton energy transfer enabled by weak coupling of metal and semiconductor nanostructures. Knowledge gained from studies of single nanostructures will be then used for building of devices and testing their applications for sensing and bio-imaging. Thanks to the combination of unique know-how of five internationally renowned research groups we should reach synergetic effects allowing pushing limits of group-IV-nanophotonics. Another important aim of this large multilateral project is establishing of sustainable research and education collaboration between Japan and Visegrad countries.
