AI-Enhanced NPK Management for Optimized Hydroponic Cultivation

The project aims to develop an AI-driven system for precise NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium) management in hydroponic systems. Using deep learning, it combines a calibration-free spectroscopy approach with a standard addition method to accurately measure NPK concentrations. A decision tree algorithm will adjust nutrient and pH levels from fertilizer salts, ensuring optimal plant growth. Cultivation trials with selected vegetable species will evaluate different fertigation strategies, plant biomass, and internal quality parameters such as antioxidants. Photosynthetic activity, root microbiome, and microbial interactions will also be assessed. Additionally, the system will be tested in an aquaponics unit to verify its adaptability for other intensive production systems. This research integrates artificial intelligence AI, digital monitoring, and machine learning to advance precision farming. By aligning with EU and Japan’s agricultural priorities, the project contributes to sustainable and efficient nutrient management in hydroponic farming.
