Metrology for standardised moisture / water content measurments in plant-origin bulk materials in support of international and European food safety and trade
Annotation in Czech
Determination of the water content in plant origin bulk materials is important for international and European food safety and trade. With data on the water content, the quality, storage conditions, price and safety of a material can be estimated. The water content in thousands of tons of cereals, wood pellets, straw and their refined products is determined daily in many industrial and scientific laboratories. However, KCDB supported CMCs, and the respective certified reference materials (CRMs), are not yet available for use in measuring the water content in plant origin bulk material. Therefore, a Karl Fischer titration method for measuring the water content in plant origin matrices and a certified reference material (CRM) candidate will be developed to provide traceability to the International System of Units (SI) and to support CMC claims.
