  • Project results evaluation

The aim of the project was to research non-destructive survey methods and identify individual types of synthetic materials in bookbinding, as well as the processes of their degradation, conservation, and restoration in modern library collections containing synthetic materials. The project also focused on preventive care, storage, handling, and accessibility of library collections containing synthetic materials. The benefits of the project for the care of modern library collections containing synthetic materials can be divided into the areas of surveying the materials, including assessing their condition; developing innovative conservation procedures; and acquiring new knowledge for effective preventive care, including appropriate storage. The main results of the project correspond to these areas - two methodologies and one monument preservation procedure.
