Praedia - Landed Estates of Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia and their Harmonious Cultural Landscape - Identification and Contemporary Interpretation of Cultural Values
Project goals
The research project consists of two subject phases. PHASE I. focuses on historical, cultural and landscape architectural value of property units known as "manorial", "aristocratic" landed properties, or "praedia". The aim of this phase is to link the character of individual landed estates with the character of the landscape and issue from known economic activities as a background for demonstrating the qualities of cultural landscape with an emphasis on highlighting the preserved historic landscape structures. PHASE II. focuses on developing methods for interpreting historic heritage landscapes, using innovative methods and modern technologies to interpret cultural values in order to support their potential protection and preservation.

Výzkumný projekt se skládá ze dvou věcných etap: ETAPA I. je zaměřena na historickou, kulturní a krajinářskou hodnotu hospodářských jednotek, označovaných jako „poplužní dvory“. Cílem této etapy je spojit charakter jednotlivých dvorů s charakterem krajiny – na pozadí ekonomické činnosti vysvětlit kvalitu kulturní krajiny s důrazem na existenci dochovaných historických krajinných struktur. ETAPA II. je zaměřena na návrh metod interpretace památkově chráněných krajin. Cílem je použití inovativních metod a nejnovějších technologií při interpretaci kulturních hodnot s cílem podpořit myšlenku jejich ochrany.

Project results evaluation
The aim of the project was to use innovative methods and the latest technologies in interpreting cultural values with the goal of supporting the idea of their protection. The project was conducted responsibly, including its economic aspects. The planned results were achieved in the vast majority of cases and are gradually being implemented. All planned main results were achieved. Six planned secondary results were not achieved - 1x B, 2x Jsc, and 3x Jost. The unachieved secondary result of type B is the book "The Landscape of Manor Farms - The Rise and Fall of Peasant Reason." According to the information contained in the final report, the manuscript of the book is currently in the review process and pre-press editorial control, with an expected implementation by 4/2023. However, the project fulfilled 93.7% of the number of applied results and type B results listed in the contract, and is therefore evaluated as U - Succeeded according to the assignment.
