Project results evaluation
The goal of the FIT project was to prepare a top team and infrastructure for oriented basic research in the field of the use of nanotechnology in biomedicine, especially for the research and development of recombinant vaccines, molecular adjuvants, multifunctional biocompatible nanoparticles for the development of targeted drug carriers (antivirals and cytostatics) and theranostics for whole-body imaging methods . An integral part was also research in a new scientific field - nanotoxicology. The strategic intention was to build a European Research Center aimed at research and development of modern vaccines, diagnostics and therapeutics for infectious diseases and dangerous zoonoses. The project's infrastructure and human resource objectives as well as scientific and commercial objectives were met. A nanoparticulate system for transdermal delivery of substances ("SPEEDERM") was successfully commercialized and a clinical study of the developed innovative prototype was conducted.
