Projekt je zaměřen na nově se rozvíjející výzkumnou oblast "road ecology", která se věnuje vztahu silniční dopravy a volně žijících živočichů. Pozemní doprava je příčinou vysoké mortality živočichů, ale též mnoha dopravních nehod. Zatímco v ČR dosud není jednotný přístup k výběru nebezpečných míst, k hodnocení jejich významu a výběru optimálních opatření, v zahraničí jsou používány přístupy, které tuto problematiku úspěšně řeší. Zapojení experta pomůže přenosu znalostí ze zahraničí do ČR.

Project results evaluation
The goal of the project was met: to achieve the transfer of knowledge and the establishment of research contacts through the involvement of a foreign expert with experience in the field of road ecology. The cooperation identified the main and most important areas with conflicts between vehicles and animals on the road network of the Czech Republic. Selected sites were identified on the basis of a combination of information on the level of concentration of precipitation with animals and the nature of the local population most affected (by collisions with vehicles) of the animal species. The results were communicated to the professional public at seminars. The establishment of this cooperation strengthened the research potential of the team at the Transport Research Center in Olomouc.
