Traction inverters based on SiC semiconductor modules
Project goals
The aim of this project is the application of SiC semiconductors to traction converters, especially for urban public transport vehicles and suburban rail transport. Application of SiC semiconductors will allow more efficient use of energy resources in the field of electromobility. The output of the project is 2 prototypes of traction converters with SiC elements up to 1000 V and over 1000 V.

Cílem toho projektu je aplikace SiC polovodičů do trakčních měničů zejména pro vozidla městské hromadné dopravy a příměstské železniční dopravy. Aplikace SiC polovodičů umožní efektivnější využití energetických zdrojů v oblasti elektromobility. Výstupem projektu jsou 2 prototypy trakčních měničů se SiC prvky a to do 1000 V a nad 1000 V.

Project results evaluation
The solved project represented a very complex task of mastering a completely new technology for inverter technology. The feasibility of technical designs was limited by the availability of suitable SiC elements and, with regard to the available range, more variants had to be developed. The project led to the acquisition of knowledge about the structural arrangement and dimensioning of sinusoidal filters for traction converters with SiC elements and the solution of converters with sintered Rhom chips.
