Dynamic Pricing and Resource Allocation in Networks
Project goals
The efficient allocation of resources to production and consumption processes by a price controlled mechanism has always been the central focus of economic research. What is new in the area is not the management decisions themselves but rather how these decisions are made. The true innovation lies in the methods of decision making. This new approach is driven by two complementary forces. Scientific advances in economics, operations research, and statistics now make it possible to model dynamic processes. Advances in information technology provide capability to automate transactions. The project will combine approaches from supply and demand chain management. For development of new approaches models and methods of operations research will be applied, such as game theory, negotiation models, revenue management, auction models, multi-criteria analysis, data envelopment analysis, and others. The project will focus on the use of new approaches in a networked environment.

Efektivní alokace zdrojů ve výrobních a spotřebních procesech pomocí cenového mechanismu byla vždy středem ekonomického výzkumu. To, co je nového v této oblasti, nejsou manažerská rozhodnutí sama, ale spíše to, jak jsou tato rozhodnutí učiněna. Skutečná inovace spočívá v metodách rozhodování. Tento nový přístup je řízen dvěma vzájemně se doplňujícími silami. Vědecký pokrok v ekonomii, operačním výzkumu a statistice nyní umožňuje modelovat tyto dynamické procesy. Pokroky v oblasti informačních technologií zajistí schopnost automatizovat transakce. Projekt bude kombinovat přístupy managementu dodavatelských a poptávkových řetězců. Pro vývoj nových přístupů budou použity modely a metody operačního výzkumu, jako je teorie her, modely vyjednávání, revenue management, modely aukcí, vícekriteriální analýza, analýzu obalu dat a další. Projekt se zaměří na využití nových přístupů v síťovém prostředí.

Main result is survey of approaches to dynamic pricing and allocation of resources in networks together with some new methodologies for its modelling. Project partially meets its main goals, although with results of local character. Main output of the project is large number of proceedings from local conferences, and book. With respect to the proposal, international impacted results are missing.
