Modelling and Characterisation of an Oxide-Dispersion-Strengthened Superalloy under Superimposed Thermo-Mechanical and High-Cycle Fatigue Loading

  • Annotation in Czech

This project focuses on a newly designed, additively manufactured (AM) oxide-dispersion-strengthened (ODS) nickel-based superalloy for high-temperature components. A tailored microstructure with nanoscale Y2O3 dispersion is expected to enhance strength and resistance to creep and oxidation at high temperatures. The ODS superalloy will be subjected to complex loading conditions, including superimposed thermo-mechanical and high-cycle fatigue loading. A novel unified viscoplastic model will be developed within a continuum framework to capture anisotropic, temperature- and rate-dependent behaviour, incorporating complex microstructural effects. Additionally, a unified damage model, using a phase-field modelling approach, will be proposed and coupled with the constitutive model to address multiple damage mechanisms, including fatigue, creep, and oxidation. These models will be supported by mechanical testing and advanced microstructural analysis, addressing critical gaps in understanding and predicting the behaviour of AM ODS nickel-based superalloys under realistic service conditions.
