From mine waste to soil: The geochemistry of less-studied metal(loid)s
Annotation in Czech
The project focuses on the solid-phase speciation, mobility, and environmental behavior of less-studied critical and contaminant metal(loid)s (As, Sb, In, Ge, Ga, Cd) in mine wastes and soils. It will assess their binding in secondary phases, competition during weathering, and factors controlling their mobility. A combination of laboratory experiments, field sampling, and advanced analytical techniques (e.g., EPMA, Raman sp., XAS techniques, sequential extraction, HG-CT ICP-MS/MS) will be applied. The expected outcomes include new insights into As-Sb interactions, the first systematic data on In, Ge, and Ga mobility in mine wastes, and an improved understanding of trace metal(loid) retention in uncontaminated soils. The findings will advance knowledge of geochemical risks and support strategies for mine waste management and resource.
