Non-residential areas of early medieval central agglomerations in Bohemia and Moravia in archeaological sources
Project goals
'The aim of this project is to contribute to tlie clarification of the function of 'non-residential' areas (negative delimitation concerning the concept of a residence as tne seat of an elite) - among other things the components described as a bailey, the area beneath the ramparts and suburbia, of strongholds of the Early Middle Ages, and possibly the functions of settlements in the immediate hinterland of the strongholds. The processing and evaluation of the existing archaeological resources from thecentral localities of Bohemia and Moravia, surveyed over a long period, linked with the genesis of the oldest state organisations in the country, could lead to the knowledge of similarities and differences between these components of settlement agglomerations, to the understanding of their transformation in space and time and to defining precisely the used terminology. Nerezidenční části raně středověkých centrálních aglomerací v Čechách a na Moravě v archeologických pramenech

Cílem projektu je přispět k objasnění funkcí "nerezidenčních" částí (negativní vymezení vůči pojmu rezidence jako sídla elity) -tj. komponent označovaných jako předhradí, podhradí či suburbia hradů raného středověku, případně funkcí sídlišť v jejich bezprostředním zázemí. Zpracováním a vyhodnocením existujícího fondu archeologických pramenů z dlouhodobě zkoumaných centrálních lokalit Čech a Moravy, svázaných s genezí nejstarších státních útvarů na našem území, lze dospět k poznání shod a rozdílů mezi těmito komponentami sídlištních aglomerací, k postižení jejich proměn v prostoru a čase i k zpřesnění užívané terminologie. Odpovědi na tyto otázky je možné řešit zpracováním dílčích témat zaměřených na charakter, intenzitu a chronologii sídelních aktiviti souhrnným hodnocením získaných informací. Vedlejším produktem záměru je zhodnocení pramenů, které zabrání ztrátám jejich výpovědní hodnoty.
