The International Style in Germany: German Drawing of the 1550s-1650s from Collections of the Czech Republic

Project goals

The bulk of German drawing from the period 1550-1650, significant both in number and quality, held in the Czech and Moravian museum collections, have not yet been comprehensively researched by the scientists. The basis of my project and its result wouldbe the scientific illustrated summary catalogue which would also incorporate works of art from the chateau collections and probably also librarian and archive funds. Preliminarily, it can be said that these are master or workshop drawings by Friedrich Sustris, Peter Candid, Georg Pecham, Hans von Aachen, Hans Rottenhammer, Johann Mat. Kager, Hans Friedrich Schorer the Elder, Hans Friendrich Schorer the Younger, Jacob Walther, David Heidenreich, Hans Bocksberger and others. The catalogue would follow upwith my previous publication The German Drawing of the 15th and 16th Centuries: Drawings by Artists of the German-Speaking Countries from the Museum Collections of the Czech Republic, published in 2003.

Internacionální styl v Německu: Kresby vzniklé v německy mluvících zemích mezi léty 1550 až 1650 ze sbírek České republiky

  • Annotation in Czech

Početně i kvalitativně významné kolekce kreseb německých kreseb z období 1550-1650 z Českých a moravských muzejních sbírek nejsou vědecky dostatečně zpracovány. Kagera, Hanse FriedrichaSchorera staršího i mladšího, Jacoba Walthera, Davida Heidenreicha, Hanse Bocksbergera a dalších. Katalog by navazoval na předchozí publikaci Německá kresba 15.-16. století: kresby autorů německy mluvících zemí z muzejních sbírek České republiky z roku2003.

The project sought to bring together drawings from 1550-1650 originally from Bohemian and Moravian collections that had found their way to German-speaking countries. Based on the research, the period was eventually extended back to 1540. Ninety-four draw
