Application of biological methods of mineral processing in the production of alternative fuels from low-grade coal, biomaterials and biowaste

Project goals

The substance of the proposed project is research of potential utilization of residual biomass from agriculture for heating and power-production, and for the removal of selected organic and inorganic contaminants from model solutions and waste water. Refuse agricultural products, which have not been tested for such purposes so far, will be tested. The residual biomass will be used as natural biosorbent to reduce contamination of old ecological burdens in the selected types of water and followingly, thebiomass will be applied with low-grade brown coal in the production of ecological pellets. Next, bacterial desulphurization will be tested on low-grade brown coal applying the bacteria of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans. After their application the desulphurized coal will be used in a mixture with biosorbents in the production of ecological pellets. Biodegradation of sewage sludge will be carried out and they will also be made use of in the production of ecological pellets.

    Podstatou navrhovaného projektu je výzkum možnosti využití zbytkové biomasy ze zemědělství pro vytápění a získávání energie a pro odstraňování vybraných organických a anorganických kontaminantů z modelových roztoků a odpadních vod (ČOV, odkaliště a kyselé důlní vody). Budou testovány zbytkové odpadní produkty ze zemědělství (makovice, odpadní slupky z vlašských ořechů, apod.), které doposud nebyly pro tyto účely testovány. Zbytková biomasa bude použita jako přírodní biosorbent ke snižování kontaminace starých ekologických zátěží na vybraných typech vod a následně se tato biomasa bude aplikovat s méně hodnotným hnědým uhlím k výrobě ekologických pelet. Dále bude testována bakteriální desulfurizace na hnědém méně hodnotném uhlí aplikací bakterie Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans. Po její aplikaci bude odsířené uhlí aplikováno ve směsi s biosorbenty k výrobě ekologických pelet. Bude provedena biodegradace čistírenských kalů a jejich aplikace při výrobě ekologických pelet.
