Generation of Mathematical Descriptions of Heat Sources to be Used during Fusion Welding Simulation

Project goals

This project is focused on mathematical description of heat sources models in case of SYSWELD simulation programme for different fusion welding methods. The knowledge of  mathematical description of the heat source as well as of the heat quantity makes it possible to define precisely the size and shape of the weld pool and consequently also the computation of the nonstationary temperature field. Mathematical description of the heat source must also contain an element defining movement of the source in the process of weld creation. Mathematical description of the heat source is different for different welding methods and also depends on the type of the basic material. Creation and description of the heat source is of utmost importance for the accuracy of simulations in case of solving the nonstacionary temperature fields and phase transformations. The aim of the project is to create methodology for creation of the heat sources as well as to define the general dependance for the adjustment of mathematical description of the source by welding with preheat, postheat or by temperature fields superposition. The work shall result into the creation of appropriate heat sources database for selected welding methods and basic materials.
