The effect of supra-high irradiance on microalgal cultivation and cyanobacteria in a solar photobioreactor based on linear Fresnel lenses: distribution

Project goals

Cultivation of microalgae is interesting biotechnology. A lot of bioactive compounds are produced during autotrophic cultivation of microalgae. These compounds can be used in aquaculture, cosmetic and medicine or as food additive. Microalgae cultivationin temperate zone is very complicated (outdoor temperature, little various light days, limited cultivation season). A novel type of solar photobioreactor based on solar concentrator linear Fresnel lenses was constructed in the Academic and University Centrum in Nove Hrady, Czech republic. This photobioreactor mounted in roof greenhouse construction (patent application no. 2003-14277) allows cultivation of microalgae in temperate zone and prolongs of cultivation season. The four solar photobioreactorsaregoing to construct in the Biotechnology Hall in Nove Hrady in year 2004.     Využití kultivace mikrořas je zajímavou oblastí biotechnologie vzhledem k tomu, že vybrané řasové kmeny produkují cenné bioaktivní látky, které nacházejí své uplatnění v mnoha odvětvích (aqua-kultury, potravinové doplňky, kosmetika, lékařství). Kultivacemikrořas v mírném pásmu je díky klimatickým podmínkám problematická (venkovní teploty, krátký a proměnlivý světelný den, omezená kultivační sezóna). Vzhledem k těmto omezením byl v Akademickém a universitním centru v Nových Hradech u Českých Budějovic zkonstruován a otestován nový typ solárního fotobioreaktoru (SFBR) založený na Lineárních Fresnelových čočkách (patent č. 2003-14277), které umožňují koncentraci přímého slunečního záření a zvyšují jeho intensitu až na čtyřnásobek (Masojídek a spol., J.Appl. Phycol 15, 239-248, 2003). Na základě získaných znalostí a zkušeností budou v roce 2004 postaveny čtyři nové SPBR v rámci Biotechnologické haly.
