Intrinsic Localized Modes in Alkali Halides
Project goals
The aim of this projectis to examine the role of intrinsic localized modes in simple anharmonic discrete lattices, in order to make a consistent reference study allowing to appreciate their function in dynamical and thermodynamical properties of such systems. In particular, we would like to check whether the anharmonic localized mode reported recently in NaI:Tl crystals [Phys. Rev. B 79, 134304 (2009)] is of an intrinsic or extrinsic (impurity-induced) nature, and whether similar localized modes are present in the spectra other compounds of this family.

Cílem tohoto projektu je prozkoumat úlohu intrinzických lokalizovaných modů v jednoduchých enharmonických diskrétních mřížkách pro posouzení jejich vlivu na obecné dynamické a termodynamické vlastnosti těchto systémů. Zejména je třeba ověřit, zda anharmonický lokalizovaný mod pozorovaný v krystalu NaI:Tl [Phys. Rev. B 79, 134304 (2009)] je povahy intrinzické, nebo extrinzické (indukované příměsemi), a jestli jsou podobné lokalizované mody přítomny ve spektrech dalších sloučenin z této skupiny.

The aim was to investigate the localized modes and, in particular, the nature of the observed one. The 1st year were affected by stay outside the CR, the 2nd presents a progress, published in 2 papers, plan for the 3rd one was 2 works (not exist now). The investigator writes "the previous observations COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED by different quality or by unwanted effects?.
