Funding of Political Parties in Selected Electoral and Party Systems
Project goals
Funding of political competition and party activities is an important aspect of the overall character of each political system. This project aims to the analysis of party funding in selected Western European countries and transitive democracies of Central Europe (THe United Kingdom, Germany and the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia). This selection of countries reflects the fact that they have different party systems and thus are interesting for a comparison. Great Britain was chosen for the specific operation of political parties and their reliance on private fundraising activities, in contrary to Germany with its elaborate system of public subsidies and strong parties. Central European countries are comparable in their party systems.

Způsob financování činnosti politických stran představuje důležitý aspekt celkového charakteru daného politického systému. Výzkumný projekt je zaměřen na analýzu financování politických stran ve vybraných západoevropských zemích a tranzitivních demokraciích (Velká Británie, Německo a ČR, Polsko, Slovensko, Maďarsko a Slovinsko). Jde o země s odlišnými politickými tradicemi a rozdílnými volebními a stranickými systémy, čímž je zajištěna možnost komparace. Velká Británie byla vybrána proto, že zde politické strany závisejí na příjmech ze soukromých zdrojů, oprpti tomu v Německu existuje propracovaný systém dotací ze státního rozpočtu. Středoevropské země proto, že se v nich stranické systémy a systémy financování stran teprve utváří.
