Participation of the Czech Republic in activities of The American Society For Microbiology
Project goals
The American Society for Microbiology is the oldest and largest single life science membership organization in the world and has also many regiona activities. Area of the Central & Eastern Europe, called Region 19, has almost the smallest number of members at all. The aim of this project is to encourge Czech scientist in active participation in ASM acivities and also in elected offices of ASM. In the science part of the project the biofilm forming ability of clinically important microorganisms, mainly Candida species will be examined.

Project results evaluation
The goals of the project were met, including participation in the structures of ASM - Int. Comm. Board, Ambassador Forum, Int. Education Comm. We succeeded in appointing of Ambassador and Young Ambassador. Support from the ASM for the activities of Czechmembers were achieved. In scientific program was verified detection of less common yeast species and their presence in clinical material.
