The principal objective of the project is to characterise regulated and localised translation of cell wall proteins in growing pollen tube that represents effectively single-cell model system to study fast tip growth and related massive synthesis of specialised cell wall.

Project results evaluation
We performed a detailed functional analysis of translationally repressed transcripts encoding pollen cell wall proteins that complemented the bioinformatic analysis of pollen transcriptomic data. We experimentally confirmed their cellular localization and developmentally regulated phosphorylation of relevant proteins. Finally, we observed an activation of stored transcripts in pollen tubes.
