Nové geny ABC transportérů u jednoděložných rostlin

Projekt podporuje spolupráci mezi Univerzitou Palackého v Olomouci (Ludmilou Ohnoutkovou) a Spelman College (Mentewab Ayalew) USA, je zaměřen na funkční charakterizaci specifické ATP-vazebné kazet (ABC) transportérů ječmene (Hordeum vulgare L.). Účelem projektu je identifikace a funkční charakteristika ABC transportérů na pozadí jednoděložných rostlin homologních k Atwbc19 (member of the White-Brown Complex), který byl inentifikován u modelové rostliny Arabidopsis thaliana a vykazuje rezistenci ke kanamycinu. Definovány mohou být také nové ortologní geny. Exprese a funkce těchto genů bude ověřena u jednoděložných rostlin molekulárními metodami v in vitro a v in vivo podmínkách.

Project results evaluation
The Atwbc19 gene, which confers resistance to aminoglycoside antibiotics, was inserted into expression vectors. Transgenic plants of spring barley, switchgrass, and winter wheat expressing Atwbc19 gene were obtained. Selective efficiency of the Atwbc19 gene was evaluated. Through international cooperation with the US partner, four barley genes with high homology to Atwbc19 were selected.
