Synthesis of polymer-coated magnetic nanoparticles for biomedicine
Project goals
New polymer-coated magnetic nanoparticles suitable for biomedical applications will be produced. New knowledge and procedures will be achieved on preparation of magnetic nanoparticles and modification of their surfaces using hydrophilic polymer shells. Neat magnetic particles will be prepared in 2014, surface modifications with polymers will be done in 2015 and complete optimal procedures including through physico-chemical, or biological, characrerization will be completed in 2016.

Annotation in Czech
Vyrobeny budou nové polymerem povlečené magnetické nanočástice vhodné pro biologické a lékařské aplikace. Získány budou nové znalosti a postupy stran přípravy magnetických nanočástic a modifikace jejich povrchů novými hydrofilními polymerními slupkami. Holé magnetické částice budou připraveny v r. 2014, povrchové modifikace s využitím polymerů budou provedeny v r. 2015 a kompletní optimalizované postupy včetně důkladné fyzikálně-chemické, popř. biologické, charakterizace budou zakončeny v r. 2016.

Superparamagnetic -Fe2O3 and Fe3O4 nanoparticles were successfully synthesized and modified with different shells made of poly(ethylene glycol), sucrose, polyaniline, and α-carboxyl-ω-bis(ethane-2,1-diyl)phosphonic acid-terminated poly(3-O-methacryloyl-α-D-glucopyranose). Particles, which were found to be nontoxic in biological experiments, seem to be promising to monitor labeled cells by MRI.
