Behavior and shape of nanoparticles – anticancer drug carriers in real blood environment.

Project goals

The main aim of the proposal is to investigate the inner structure of nanoparticles composed of tumor-targeted polymer-doxorubicin conjugates in real blood environment. Precise distribution of all entities (cholesterol and drug) will be established.

    It was found that individual proteins and plasma have very low binding affinity to nanoparticles. Our study suggests that a classical “hard corona-soft corona” paradigm is not valid for all types of nanoparticles but rather represents an extreme case for some types of charged and hydrophobic nanoparticles.
