Microphase separation in copolymers
Project goals
We propose to study the dynamic properties and phase behavior of alternating and statistical multiblock copolymers in solutions and in the solid state by quasielastic light scattering spectroscopy and by small-angle light and X-ray scattering methods. Wewill measure both the equilibrium structures as well as the time evolution of structures in nonequilibrium conditions. Our main goal is to elucidate the relationship between the chemical structure of the copolymers and their specific interactions with solvents (if present) on the one hand and the resulting phase separation kinetics and microphase structure on the other.
