In BXH/HXB recombinant inbred strains, derived from spontaneously hypertensive and Brown Norway strains, QTLs associated with adiposity, ectopic fat accumulation in muscles, serum IL6 and leptin levels were detected. In addition, autocrine effects of resistin on insulin resistance and causal effects of CRP on metabolic disturbances were identified
