According technical documentation from measured footwear of terracotta solders it was proved, that studied footwear had strong tendency to leave feet. Biomechanical tests (walking on moving walkway) this finding confirmed. Walking in footwear with lateradded shoelaces was possible. Deep cutting of uppers can be explained only by efforts to enable samless wearing with various width feet.
