Antiinflammatory activity in vitro: sanguinarine affects translocation of Nrf2, M. cordata extract and sanguinarine increase the expression of hemoxygenase-1 in cell line RAW264.7. due to activation of p38MAPK, accummulation of Nrf2 in nucleus and by increased expression of hemoxygenase-1. Positive effect of M. cordata extract on DSS induced ulcerative colitis in mice has been described.
