Mapping of functional and anatomical correlates of obsessive-compulsive disorder and their relationship with clinical symptoms severity

Project goals

Neurobiological basis of obsessive-compulsive disorder will be studied in the population of 50 patients and 50 controls using complementary and non-invasive neuroimaging methods ? electroencephalography and magnetic resonance. The data will provide information about electrical activity and structure of the brain and its functional and anatomical connectivity. We suppose that the results will bring a deeper inside into the mechanism of the pathophysiology of obsessive-compulsive disorder and that the findings will be useful for diagnostics and treatment.

Alternative language

  • Project name in Czech

Mapování funkčních a anatomických korelátů obsedantně-kompulzivní poruchy a jejich vztahu k závažnosti klinických symptomů

  • Annotation in Czech

Na populaci 50 pacientů 50 zdravých kontrol bude studován neurobiologický podklad obsedantně-kompulzivní poruchy pomocí komplementárních neinvazivních zobrazovacích metod, elektroencefalografie a magnetické rezonance. Z dat bude možno získat informaci oelektrické aktivitě a struktuře mozku i o jeho funkční a anatomické konektivitě. Předpokládáme, že výsledky přinesou hlubší vhled do mechanismu patofyziologie obsedantně-kompulzivní poruchy a že zjištění bude možno využít pro diagnostiku a léčbu.

  • Project results evaluation

Obsessive-compulsive disorder is linked with dorsal anterior and middle cingulate gyrus dysfunction reflected in higher power of delta EEG oscillations. Moreover, it is linked with disturbed functional cortical connectivity and white matter integrity.
