Survey on virus and phytoplasma diseases of Vaccinium in the Czech Republic
Project goals
To collect Vaccinium samples from plantations, propagative materials and wild blueberries and test by commercial ELISA kits for the: BlScV=Blueberry scorch virus, BlShV=Blueberry shock virus, BSSV=Blueberry shoestring virus, BLMoV=Blueberry leaf mottle virus.Positive samples will be assayed by PCR and sequencing to confirm the virus identity. Search for phytoplasma - like symptoms in blueberry. Viruses and fytoplasmas in Vaccinium belong to pathogens with difficult diagnosis and economic importance, being of interest for the European and Mediterranean Plant protection Organisation (EPPO) and the EU administration (regulations on the safe movement of germplasm and plant viruses).
