Intelligent Infrastructures for Cognitive Networks
Project goals
The proposed project will contribute to the scientific program of the Action IC0902 which emphasizes a cross-layer approach to the design of cognitive systems. The goal is to investigate the possibilities of fundamental enhancements to indoor cognitive wireless communication systems offered by introducing intelligent building infrastructures. There are two basic ideas proposed: intelligent walls and a new concept of pre-installed infrastructure. In addition, possibilities of using CR-UWB technology forproviding a wireless communication platform within the intelligent infrastructure will be investigated. To support theoretical simulations a measurement system for long-term evaluation of spectrum occupancy in both outdoor and indoor scenarios will be realized and operated. The results will be open to the research community. The new knowledge will be adopted for educational purposes at the CTU Prague as well. The results will be published in journals as well as at relevant conferences.

Project results evaluation
In the frame of the project new basic concepts of intelligent infrastructure were introduced and verified by simulations for indoor cognitive wireless networks - so called intelligent walls and preinstalled distributed antenna systems. Four journal papers represent the main outputs of the project.
