Projekt, který bude probíhat v období 2005-2009 je navrhnut tak, aby podrobně zpracoval problematiku BYDV v ČR. Má tyto cíle: 1/ Monitoring výskytu BYDV v ČR, včetně zastoupení jednotlivých kmenů, 2/ ověření stávajících metodik zjišťování odolnosti k BYDV, 3/ zjištění genetického založení odolných linií, 4/ introdukce odolnosti do kulturních pšenic za pomoci polního testování nebo markerem asistované selekce (MAS).
