Influence of different metabolic activity of organisms on biological and fertilizing characteristics of gametes in dairy cattle.

Project goals

The aim of this project is to achieve an interaction between cows? fertility potential and bulls'' fertilization ability for the application in biotechnology in case of different nutritional levels, body conditions and metabolic activities of monitored animals. The yield and quality of oocytes and embryos produced in vivo, as well as their vitality (development, rate of apoptosis, cytoskeletal state) and ultrastructural morphology in relation to body condition and metabolic profile of cows will be evaluated. Further, fertilizing ability of the sperm, sperm activity, morphology, and sperm motility using test of sperm migration in bovine cervical mucus, as well as sperm production and quality of bull ejaculate in relation to defined nutrition (body condition scores) will be examined. Proposed steps will improve a performance of current biotechnological techniques of cattle gamete cultivation in relation to the nutrition of cows and bulls and their body condition and metabolic profile.

U - Uspěl podle zadání (s publikovanými či patentovanými výsledky atd.)

  • Project results evaluation

The purpose of the project was to streamline the cattle reproduction process for cows and stud bulls of milked C and H strains with different levels of fat reserve, metabolic activity and profile specified by metabolic tests with direct impact onto breeding practice. The achieved results comply with the planned project objectives.
