New findings from biology, epidemiology and resistance of winter rape pathogens to pesticides in the Czech Republic as a base of their integrated management
Project goals
The aim of the project is to acquire new knowledge from biology, epidemiology and resistance of winter rape pathogens against pesticides usable in the frame of integrated pest management in the Czech Republic. Concretely we mean data about resistance against fungicides used in Czech Republic, sources and modes of infection, reaction to microclimate in canopy and requirements of outer conditions, etiology of some diseases and disorders and finally possibility to utilize induced resistance.

Project results evaluation
The aim of the project was to obtain new findings in the field of biology, epidemiology and the pesticide resistance of important rape pathogens in the Czech Republic. It was proven that L. maculans occurs here in the autumn in the form of leaf spots, while L. biglobosa appears on the stalks before harvest. The project refuted the hypothesis that L. maculans occurs at the base of the stalk, while L. biglobosa occurs higher up. Molecular diagnostic methods were adapted to detect S. sclerotiorum, P. brassicae and V. longisporum in plants and in the soil. It was proven that pod cracking is caused by pest infestation and not by downy mildew. The results obtained were regularly passed on to growers and are fully applicable in agricultural practice, consultancy and research.
