Resistance monitoring methods of economically important pests and weeds to pesticides and anti-resistance strategies

Project goals

The aim of the project is to verify or develop methods for resistance monitoring of pests and weeds to pesticides. The object of the research will be pest organisms with incidence of resistance in Europe. Resistance of pests of oil seed rape, field vegetable and potatoes and weeds will be evaluated. For resistant populations of pests and weeds, the LD50 and LD90 values will be established for active substances for which this knowledge are not available. The efficacy of new active substances on resistant populations will be proved and values of baseline will be established. Mechanisms of resistance of pests and weeds to pesticides will be evaluated by molecular and biochemical methods antiresistant strategies will be proposed.

    Metody monitorovaní rezistence hospodářsky významných škůdců a plevelů k přípravkům na ochranu rostlin a antirezistentní strategie

    Cílem řešení je ověřit nebo vypracovat metody detekce rezistence škůdců a plevelů k přípravkům na ochranu rostlin. Předmětem výzkumu budou škodlivé organismy, u kterých se v Evropě rezistence vyskytuje. Rezistence bude hodnocena na spektru škůdců řepky, polní zeleniny a brambor a na spektru plevelů. U rezistentních populací škůdců a plevelů budou stanoveny hodnoty LC50 a LC90 účinných látek, pro které nejsou tyto charakteristiky dosud známé. Pro nové účinné látky bude ověřena účinnost na rezistentní populace a budou stanoveny hodnoty base-line. Dále budou zjišťovány mechanismy rezistence škůdců a plevelů k přípravkům na ochranu rostlin pomocí molekulárních a biochemických metod a budou navrženy antirezistentní strategie.

    A total of 72 published results were achieved within the project. The positive of the project is a large number of scientifically valued results (6xJimp, 14xJost). I consider the preparation of two certified methodologies to be the most important results of the project. These methodologies will serve the state administration in monitoring resistant pest populations. Contracts have already been concluded with the authorities concerned for the use of these certified methodologies.
