Minerals of the Czech Midlands

Project goals

The three-year project Minerals of the České středohoří Mts. was focused on studying minerals from the Czech Midlands area. The minerals were analyzed by laboratory techniques: electron microscopy, electron microprobe analysis, X-ray diffractometry, thermal analytic methods (DTA, TG, DTG), XRF analysis and INAA analysis. Both rosk-forming minerals and postmagmatic autohydrothermal minerals from vugs and cavities in volcanic rocks faund in the selected localities were studied. A large number of samples from the present collections were used for these analyses. Moreover the study was focused on small-scale tectonics and geochemistry. The results are published in reputed scholarly journals.
