GSR particles and their evidential value
Original language description
Contamination can be caused by different ways, one of them is a secondary transfer of GSR on a suspect, for example from an engaged policemen, or from other source. The level of GSR particles occurrence in surroundings is in every country dissimilar, depending for instance on the number of firearms legally held by inhabitants. Thus, to evaluate optimally results of GSR analysis, the knowledge of GSR particle occurrence is essential. For exact determination of the level of adventitious occurrence of gunshot residues in the surroundings, we pursued a three- year project. Its length and frequency were chosen in order to eliminate about as good as it can be climatic and seasonal influences affecting among other clothing of persons. Data obtained from the study have a crucial influence for the ascertainment of possibilities of persons´ contamination from sources of accidental GSR particle occurrence in a common environment and for verification, possibly for specification of the limit of GSR
