2 stránkový článek ve sborníku - Book of abstracts, EPDIC17 Turková I., Kotrlý M., Šefců R., Antušková V.: X-ray diffraction as a significant forensic analysis in the field of cultural heritage examination. Book of abstracts, EPDIC17, p. 58-59, Šibenik, 2022 Abstract of the article Investing in the arts seems like a win in terms of long-term value for money. But what about an art object - an expensive investment whose originality is in question? Of course, counterfeits will also penetrate the art market. The Institute of Criminalistics of the Police Czech Republic, in cooperation with the National Gallery in Prague, has been building robust and proven procedures for identifying counterfeits in the field of fine art to make them fully defensible in court. As part of an extensive project dealing with the detection of counterfeits, emphasis was placed on creating a unique database, relating to the specifics of the author's painting techniques and the possibility of using period art materials. This significantly expanded the knowledge of art practice of artists of the 20th century and collected a basic database of used art materials. This will make it possible to identify the author's specific material features, which can be key for effective verification of the original or in the detection of counterfeits. One of the significant methods used to identify the materials used, and in this area especially the analysis of pigments, is X-ray diffraction. Based on the knowledge of the structural information of the pigment, we can, not only detect counterfeits, but we can also e.g. to the date of the artwork. The complexity of the issue requires interdisciplinary cooperation in the forensic field, in the fields of analytical, scientific and restoration surveys of works of art. The correctness of the procedures and techniques developed have already been verified in many cases involving controversial parts.
