Review paper on the aspects of thermal decomposition modelling of solids
Original language description
This paper summarizes the basis of thermal decomposition modelling in the context of the CFD fire growth modelling. Empirical approach eliminating the need for incorporating the pyrolysis model into the fire specific CFD code in order to model the fire spread as prescribed by user is briefly discussed. Comprehensive pyrolysis models that predict the fire growth and spread based on the physical and chemical processes occurring when the material is thermally stimulated are discussed in detail. Emphasis is given on the assumptions invoked by the models and the model input parameters that arise throughout the model derivations.
