APPLICATION OF X-RAY FLUORESCENCE SPECTROSCOPY FOR DETERMINATION OF CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF ALUMINUM ALLOYS USED FOR FIRE LADDERS
Original language description
This paper deals with the application of X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy for determining of the chemical composition of aluminum alloys. The need to measure these materials arises from the research project “Increasing the Safety of Portable Ladders for Firefighters”. The chemical composition of aluminum alloys had to be verified as part of the destruction tests conducted with portable fire ladders. Data on the chemical composition of ladders are collected in the data sheets of individual ladders. So far, our X-ray fluorescence spectroscope has been used in our laboratory only for the qualitative determination of the elements in the samples. Therefore, it was necessary to develop a new method focused on aluminum alloys and enabling the determination of the quantitative content of elements in aluminum alloys used for portable fire ladders.
