Following a brief introduction to noise problems infans, contemporary methods and practicesof fan noise measurements and evaluation are discussed. The principles and specific limitations of the use of active methods of noise control for industrial fans are then discussed, and a possible way of a more advanced solution for using ANC on larger axial fans is proposed.
