Material and Manufacturing Process Selection for Composite Engine Cowlings
Original language description
This paper deals with material and manufacturing process selection of new developed composite engine cowlings of aeroplane L-410NG. The main benefits of the new composite engine cowlings are lower fuel consumption thanks to better aerodynamic efficiencyand lower manufacturing costs in comparison with original metal engine cowlings. Therefore material and manufacturing process selection is one of critical issues of composite engine cowlings development. The material and manufacturing process selection is performed from the viewpoint of manufacturing costs and requested mechanical, physical and service requirements.
